The Woman’s Club of Pewaukee is now, officially a 501(c)(3) Corporation
Section 501(c)(3) is the portion of the US Internal Revenue Code that allows for federal tax exemption of nonprofit organizations, specifically those that are considered public charities, private foundations or private operating foundations. It is regulated and administered by the US Department of Treasury through the Internal Revenue Service. The overwhelming majority of 501(c)(3) organizations are nonprofit corporations. One of the most distinct provisions unique to Section 501(c)(3) organizations as compared with other tax exempt entities is the tax deductibility of donations.
This means that if you write a donation check to the Woman’s Club of Pewaukee you may deduct that amount from your taxes as a charitable cash donation. If you donate goods, for example, a new item for one of our raffles or silent auctions, you may deduct the value of that item(s) from your income taxes as a non-cash charitable deduction.
We also have tax exempt status for Wisconsin Sales Tax. If you buy something for one of our event, please ask a board member to give you our number so that you don’s have to pay sales tax when you check out at the retail establishment.
