Education and Libraries Community Service Programs are designed to foster schools as well as other educational institutions and opportunities.\u00a0 Programs promote libraries, literacy, and the love of a good book.\u00a0 Through these efforts, we encourage the growth of individuals and communities at home and around the world.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Pewaukee School District<\/strong> offers volunteer opportunities to GFWC WCP members who wish to support education by volunteering to work with students in reading, math* and other elementary school areas<\/strong>. Volunteer for 1-3 hours on a weekly basis<\/strong> or offer to help at a one-time event<\/strong>\u2014whatever fits your schedule and interest. Programs run October through mid-May.<\/strong> It is a very rewarding opportunity to have one-on-one time with our elementary children.<\/p>\n

EXPERT LISTENERS<\/strong>: \u00a0Listen to students read aloud, help with difficult vocabulary words and discuss the story to confirm comprehension. Volunteers are trained by Reading Intervention Coaches and given a building orientation before starting in October. Volunteers are located in the Library at Pewaukee Lake Elementary (5K-3rd<\/sup>) and in the Horizon classrooms (4-6th<\/sup>) for 1-3 hours a week.<\/p>\n

LIBRARY VOLUNTEERS:<\/strong>\u00a0 Log library books in and out for children, return books to their appropriate shelf, and general organization.<\/p>\n

For the safety of our students and faculty, all volunteers must submit a Volunteer Application<\/strong>. It takes 5 minutes to complete and lasts for three years. Thank you for your consideration.<\/p>\n
